As the new school year begins, it is time to consider the options for your child.

Repton School
At just over 600 pupils, Repton is large enough to achieve excellence in and out of the classroom but small enough for individuals to flourish. Pupils are encouraged to pursue their goals with self-belief and ambition and to seek out the areas in which they can excel, supported by committed staff and with outstanding facilities at their disposal.
Repton School pupils consistently achieve academic success at both GCSE and A Level. On average 95% of Repton Sixth Form leavers enter onto courses at a wide range of leading Universities, including a long tradition of student entry to the prestigious Colleges of Oxford and Cambridge.
Offering a traditional house system provides a secure, stable home and family environment within the School. The House is where pupils eat, sleep, work and live, where their most enduring relationships with peers and members of staff are born.
Repton holds many National and Regional sporting titles and operates a policy of ‘sport for all’, in recognition of achievements and commitment within the field of sport Repton were recent winners of the Daily Telegraph School Sports Matters Award for ‘Independent School of the Year’. The visual and performing arts departments also flourish and pupils enjoy an extensive range of extracurricular activities.
An exciting and ambitious Development Plan is well underway, achievements have included the installation of a Computer Aided Learning Centre for Languages, the refurbishment of the Music School including a Recording Studio and improved practice and concert facilities. Currently the School Theatre is being redeveloped and future plans incorporate the creation of a cutting edge Science Priory. For further details please contact the Registrar on:

Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School
Opening its doors in 1910, Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School - famous locally as the school where Margaret Thatcher was once Head Girl – became, in 2003, the first school in Lincolnshire to be awarded Science Specialist Status. In 2007, it was recognised as a high performing Specialist school and awarded a second specialism in Languages.
This year, the school celebrates its centenary year with an Open Day and Centenary Dinner to be held on the 16th October.
A more permanent reminder of this landmark anniversary, however, will take the form of a specially designed centenary garden in the grounds of the school which includes seating and a games area for the girls.
A high performing selective grammar school, KGGS offers excellent facilities and an enviable record of academic, sporting, musical and artistic achievement, as well as a well-established tradition of service to the local and wider community.
A testament to its popularity is the fact that most of its students remain at the school after GCSE to follow ‘AS’ and A2 level courses before proceeding to higher education, where many obtain places at this country’s most prestigious universities.
Admission is based upon the Lincolnshire Grammar Schools’ 11+ procedure. The school admits students throughout the year and welcomes many others new to the school into the Sixth Form each September. If you are keen to investigate further, please contact the school.

Foremarke Hall
Foremarke Hall is a day and boarding preparatory school set in the fifty acre grounds of an eighteenth century Palladian mansion in south Derbyshire, within easy reach of the A50 and M1. As the preparatory school to nearby Repton, providing high quality education for pupils aged 3-13, Foremarke has an excellent reputation for its high academic standards, broad-based curriculum and outstanding facilities.
We aim to encourage children to use their minds well, to understand that with privilege comes responsibility and to make wise judgments. In addition, we believe that children need time and space – and at Foremarke there is plenty of both – to grow up! At the end of Year 8 we aim to say farewell to thirteen year olds who are good and ready for the move to senior school: confident, achieving well and aware of the needs of others.

The University of Cambridge
The University of Cambridge will be bringing more of its short and part-time courses to the historic setting of Burghley House during the coming year. Whether you are interested in the wonders of its gardens and birds or the murkier world of Elizabethan spies or the art of poisoning, there is something to suit every taste. Our Shakespeare course will focus on the productions at Tolethorpe while our course on conflict archaeology will look at twentieth century issues of war, ethics and heritage.
You don’t need prior knowledge of your chosen subject, just enthusiasm and a quest for knowledge.
