STAR LETTER
Caught on Camera
I took this photo of my husband and dog on Skegness beach on Christmas Day last year whilst we were staying with my mother aged 90 who has lived in Skegness for over fifty years. I thought you may be interested in putting it in your magazine?
Kind regards
Susan Palmer, Herts
Editor – we are delighted to receive your photograph – if any other reader has a fabulous photograph they would like to see in print, please send it in to County House, along with an accompanying letter or email.

Holiday with a difference
Seven members of British Gas’s Revenue Protection Team have decided to do something a bit different with their holiday this year. Rather than soaking up the sun on the beach, Mark Andrews, Piers Merritt, Alan Cookson, Rob Hutchings, Chris Jehu, Simon Rogers and Jason Whitmarsh will be contending with saddle sores, cramp and the Great British Weather as they cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End in aid of Carers UK.
Mark Andrews, from Holton-cum-Beckering, near Market Rasen, said the ride would be an opportunity to achieve a lifetime’s ambition. “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do and the final inspiration came when I watched the celebrity team completing the ride for Sport Relief. I thought - if Fearne Cotton can do it, then I’ve really got no excuse at all.”
Mark is no stranger to long distance cycling having previously cycled from the Cricket Ground in Cherry Willingham to Lords to raise money for the village Cricket club and Leukaemia Research, but that was over twenty years ago, so he’s been back out training every day to make sure his legs are up to the task.
But all of the team are confident. Their plan is to leave John O’Groats on Saturday, 29th May and to arrive at Lands End less than six days later on Thursday, 3rd June.
Not content with 900 miles of cycling, the seven team members will also be driving all of the support vehicles themselves and managing all the day to day running of the tour. And of course generating sponsorship They aim to raise at least £5000 for Carers UK who offer support and information to all carers.
