Gardens & Gardening in Lincolnshire 2007
The National Gardens Scheme supports several charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospices and local charities nominated by individual garden owners. The scheme provides the chance to visit private gardens which are not normally open to the public as well as the gardens of some of the county’s well known stately homes.
A new addition to the scheme is The Long House at Gelston which will be open on Sunday July 6th from 2.30pm-5pm. This two acre garden has extensive views over the Vale of Belvoir, an abundance of roses, a knot garden, an informal arrangement of borders and a newly designed pond to encourage wildlife. The latest addition is a small woodland garden.
Visitors will be able to enjoy home-made teas and browsing a book stall. Admission is £2.50 per person, children are free and a share of the proceeds will be donated to All Saints Church, Hough–on-the-Hill.
