Our Reviews
As a family we have visited the railway on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. We visited over the bank holiday weekend, which was a Super Hero's event.... read more There were lots of families enjoying the day with many children and adults dressed as Batman, Super girl etc.
One volunteer guard dressed as Superman, did a superb job of entertaining the children as the train travelled from Ludborough to North Thoresby and back.
On the platform at North Thoresby, Superman and another guard led dances on the platform and many of the children and adults joined in.
Parking is free and there are good toilet facilities on the station and while the cafe on the stationery buffet car was currently out of action, there was a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, crisps and biscuits. Food could be eaten in the buffet car.
It is very much small scale but never the less, the volunteers make it a great experience and it is well worth a visit.

What a great couple of hours spent with family at a volunteer run station and train. The station is great, a flash to a bygone era and we had a... read more look in the small museum and shop before having a hot drink and a snack in the cafe carriage, whilst we waited for our departure time. The outbound journey to the North Pole was good and the kids and adults all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Santa came through the carriages giving gifts to the children and the adults each got a pen, which was an unexpected touch. On the return journey the elves got everyone involved in a sing and dance, which was great cheesy fun. Once back at the station, there was a photo with Santa and then we had a look at the engine and our youngest was very happy to have his photo with the driver on the loco footplate. All round good fun and for a great volunteer workforce, I salute them.
Not sure what experiences others had, but we for sure had a great time and highly recommend. I guess it's all about expectations and attitude. Keep up the good work.

We went on the Easter Sunday event with our daughter and 2 year old granddaughter. Beautiful day and had a great time on the Easter egg hunt.
Just disappointed... read more that our granddaughter was given a paw print to hand to the Easter bunny on the train but the bunny only passed us once and wasn’t collecting the paw prints. I’m assuming that the children were to receive an Easter egg from the bunny. None on the first trip today did. I must add that he/she wasn’t very friendly with the children which I must admit disappointed me.
As we were leaving in the car the next trip was just pulling out of the station and we saw the bunny on the train with an Easter basket. I can only assume the children on that trip were the lucky ones.
I did query this in the ticket office but didn’t get any answer as the gentleman was busy.
