It has been a busy few weeks in Louth as a refurbishment and new name has been unveiled by leading country and fashion wear retailer, Lucks of Louth.

Established in Eastgate for more than three decades, Lucks of Louth is now under the ownership of well-known local businessman Sean Lawson. Sean is a commercial property owner, operating the town’s New Market Hall and Grimsby’s Abbeygate shopping centre but this is not his family’s first experience of retail.

“My father owned Lawson and Stockdale, the department store and outfitters,” explained Sean, “so I’m excited that my purchase of what was formerly Luck of Louth is completing a circle in terms of my family’s retailing presence in the town.

“The opportunity to own a business which has such a strong collection of outstanding brands, great staff with a wonderful reputation for customer service, which is perfectly located amongst other vibrant, independent retailers in Louth is ideal.”

Customers visiting Lucks of Louth will notice a new name style above the door and inside the showrooms have a fresh, modern theme but friendly, familiar faces including store manager Kate Burton will be on hand to provide the same level of exceptional customer care.

Lucks of Louth will still be very much a family business, with Sean’s daughter Danica Lawson working on accounts management behind the scenes.

“Lucks of Louth can now offer a wonderful shopping experience for the whole family. We’ve created a contemporary and elegant interior, a boutique style throughout the store which will really showcase our brands. We’re also bringing in new names which complement our ranges such as newest addition, Fairfax and Favor.”

The new shopfit has a country house feel with oak flooring, cream and grey heritage colourways and standalone pieces of furniture for display and storage. Shop windows feature statement pieces letting light flood into the interior and welcome customers to step inside.

“I have made an investment in a new era for Lucks of Louth,” said Sean, “moving forward with all its best qualities to build a business which reflects the twenty-first century country lifestyle and expectations of our discerning customers. This will be our first Christmas at the store and we are now ready to welcome the festive season.”

BEST FOOT FORWARD
Highly fashionable while being extremely practical; beautifully crafted and immensely durable – these are just some of the qualities which have made Dubarry footwear and fashion a leading name in country wear.

Kate Burton, store manager at Lucks of Louth, has been working with the brand for many years and awaits the arrival of the new season collections with equal excitement.

“You do not need to sacrifice style and sophistication to be snug and well prepared for winter weather. Keeping your feet warm and dry is the first rule and the fabulous designs amongst the Dubarry collections take you effortlessly from country to city chic.”

Lucks of Louth stock footwear from the latest fashions to classic designs for both ladies and gentlemen; their ranges have been chosen with choice, quality and value in mind.

“New collections of boots and shoes are in store from famous names such as Josef Seibel, Rieker and Romika. There are rich colours and textures to the designs which are sure to work well with your winter wardrobe.

“Emu boots, slippers and accessories are a delightful present for yourself or a loved one, with the warmth of sheepskin hard to beat. With Christmas in mind, there are beautifully crafted gloves in delicious colours.”

The first floor shoe department is where you will find the delightful yet practical Joules range of wellies, ankle boots and accessories. With a wide choice of fun designs, from polka dots to plain, bright florals to animal motifs they will brighten up every country outing.

And with your present list in mind, a colour co-ordinating waterproof, umbrella or wellie bag will be sure to delight on Christmas Day.

For men there are choices of shoes and boots in leather, nubuck and suede from Loake, Josef Seibel, Dubarry, RM Williams and Anatomic. These companies offer contemporary styling in their footwear but have lost none of their traditional values of manufacture. Cosy yet practical slippers by Josef Seibel and Rohde will be another much appreciated gift to find under the tree.

For the rural sportsman and woman there are boots by Aigle, Le Chameau and Dubarry which offer technical sophistication as well as being a stylish addition to your outfit.

“Our store and windows have a fresh new look,” said Kate, “myself and our knowledgeable team cannot wait to show you round and help you make your choices. We look forward to welcoming you.”
