Lincolnshire Life July 2019 - Digital Copy
As you can tell from our front cover we have indulged ourselves slightly this month, to celebrate this milestone in the magazine’s ‘Life’ story. We have taken a look back through the past six decades of editions but we are also delighted to bring you the stories of so many other Lincolnshire businesses. Many, like us, are independent and family owned. Their success and values are ones we share and we thank them for joining us in this landmark edition of Lincolnshire Life.
I had the opportunity to interview actor and director, Ben Poole. Ben and the Starring Lincoln Theatre Company’s latest production Oliver! opens at the Cathedral on 5th August and anyone who has been amongst the audiences of their previous performances will be eagerly anticipating their interpretation of this famous musical. Read more on page 56.
Kate Chapman has been talking to Andrew Pearce, who is based in Lincoln as a director of Savills. Andrew is also an intrepid adventurer and last year was elected to join the exclusive Explorer’s Club. Andrew recently attended a gala in New York to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon landing. Kate’s feature begins on page 36.
Village cricket is seeing a resurgence in interest but local clubs would still like to welcome more to sign up. Christian James’ feature on page 123 hopes to spark your interest in being part of this most English of traditions.
We have included an Afternoon Tea Trail which is sure to tempt your taste buds as you are out and about this month. Be sure to give us your feedback on your visits too by making nominations for your favourites as part of our ‘Taste of Excellence’ awards. Nominations are open until 31st August. We are also looking for established and up and coming chefs to take part in our cooks-offs for Young Chef and Chef of the Year 2019.
Finally thank you to our readers, advertisers, sponsors and partners, from Geoff Manners, myself and all the staff at County Life Ltd for the support you continue to give us.
