Lincolnshire Life December 2013 - Digital Copy
Our last issue of 2013 and it has been a pleasure to travel the county again this year meeting so many inspirational people, enjoying beautiful locations and experiencing thrilling events to tell you about in the magazine. I know I am lucky to have one of the most enjoyable jobs in Lincolnshire. If, like me, you still have alot to organise before we finally take our Christmas break, here is plenty in this issue to fire your imagination and your appetite. Our Christmas Gift Guide is a whopping seventeen pages of Lincolnshire based companies and products that can soon take care of even the most difficult present decision on your list. Whatever your budget or taste there are gifts for the whole family. Glynis Fox interviewed county gift wrapping and ribbon designer, Jane Means, who managed to spare some time from her hectic schedule to give tips for fabulously festive wrapping. Read more on page 28. I went along to Ivano de Serio’s cookery school at The Old Bakery in Lincoln to get expert tips on making a luxurious, Christmas chocolate log. I have to say I was delighted with the result, as were all the volunteer food tasters amongst our staff, so please follow my step-by-step guide on page 84 for a perfect confection of your own. Have a look through our food section beginning on page 73 for lots more ideas of where to eat out this month and over the holiday period. There are also many independent food producers, butchers and bakers who can help you fill your festive larder. Dom Franks has been giving thought to how to create truly appealing and delicious recipes with any leftovers you may have. There is not much spare Champagne at our house by the end of Christmas Day but his risotto recipe on page 82 is going to be a must! Finally, there is just chance to mention all of the great gifts we have in our Lincolnshire Life shop. Find magazine subscriptions, books, Lincolnshire Flag gift sets, merchandise and coffees at www.lincolnshirelife.co.uk or call 01522 527127. From all of us at Lincolnshire Life we wish you a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
