Lincolnshire Life December 2020 - Digital Copy
As we go to print, none of us is really sure what form our Christmas celebrations will be allowed to take. We have produced this issue for you with this in mind and have focussed on how to make the most of the season on what will probably be a smaller scale.
Dominic Franks has been cooking up a storm with recipes for a ‘Six’mas feast. Six glorious dishes to feed six people a Christmas banquet. You can read more on page 54 and I can’t wait to try them myself.
Barbara Young spent the day with Debbie Hopkins of The Homemade House creating wonderful chocolate treats which you can make at home as perfect presents for friends and family. Children will love making some of these recipes which begin on page 60.
Our bumper Christmas Gift Guide is packed with local businesses offering ideas to suit each member of the family and their click or call and collect services are already well practised from the first lockdown. From your fir tree to local produce, from exquisite jewellery to seasonal drinks, we have a selection of the county’s finest independent businesses and organisations. Be sure to support them as they work especially hard in the coming weeks.
Kate Chapman has been busy interviewing inspiring people from across Lincolnshire for this month’s issue, including Daniella Draper, the jewellery designer who heralds from Cleethorpes, and Codie-Lei Eastick, an aspiring young actor from Boston who has already notched up his first movie credit. Kate’s festive story tells of the Herald Angels of Gosberton who have also been captured on film in an episode of BBC TV’s The Repair Shop. Read more on page 36.
Finally, we have the greatest pleasure in announcing your winners of the Lincolnshire Life ‘Taste of Excellence’ Awards 2020. We were very moved by many of the comments we received about the more than 1,200 businesses which were nominated. Their service to the community, produce and hospitality has meant a great deal to people this year. We shortlisted the top ten in each category and it has been challenging for our judges to pick just one winner for each. We will be following up more of these back stories and making presentations for next month but meanwhile many congratulations to all the entrants and especially your winners.
Wishing you a very Happy Christmas from myself and everyone at Lincolnshire Life.
