Lincolnshire Life January 2019 - Digital Copy
The festive break is a chance for us all to recharge our batteries here at Lincolnshire Life. Our work schedule is hectic throughout the year but the Christmas and New Year break allows us to spend time with family and friends. I am always grateful for that and appreciate the work of those who still have to be on call and fulfil shifts.
Rather than look back, the holiday is for me the chance to anticipate the year ahead; with that in mind, firstly, a warm welcome to our new subscribers. This will be the first magazine of your Christmas gift subscription and we hope in this issue and throughout 2019 we can delight you with stories of inspirational county people, the best places to visit, eat and walk as well as show you hidden gems of our towns and villages.
Kate Chapman interviewed Khadija Kalifa, a Bourne based business woman who has just left our TV screens as a contestant on BBC One’s The Apprentice. An experience which always seems certainly not for the faint-hearted, she tells more of her boardroom battles on page 30.
Lincolnshire’s aviation heritage is a theme which we could include in every issue and we know the close interest many of you take in the subject. Penny Wainwright brings us an update on the work at the former RAF Ingham to tell the story of this WWII airfield. Her article begins on page 60.
Kate’s second interview is with racing driver Jack Harvey who is continuing to make his mark on the international motor racing scene. Jack grew up in Bassingham and has graduated from European motorsport and made the move to America to compete in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Read more on page 115.
Our Education feature includes more inspiring stories of the excellence achieved in local schools. The dedication of both staff and pupils to attain these results is hugely impressive. Finally, we include our Wellness supplement which, rather than prompting quickly forgotten New Year resolutions, offers ideas to help you relax and have a healthier outlook for 2019.
Wishing you a very happy and healthy New Year from us all at Lincolnshire Life.
