Lincolnshire Life November 2013 - Digital Copy
The penultimate month of 2013 and we have a packed Christmas Gift Guide to inspire your present list. Also enclosed is a super guide giving you a taster of how to celebrate a Magical Christmas in Lincoln.
To kick off our features this month, Kate Chapman interviewed Keith Webb, the owner of a county business for whom every day goes off with a Bonfire Night bang. Pyrovision are based in Deeping St Nicholas and their pyrotechnic skills have taken them all over the world, providing firework displays for some of the most prestigious events on the global stage. Read Kate’s feature on page 36.
November is the month in which we especially remember the sacrifice made by members of the armed forces for our liberty. Next year will also be the centenary of the beginning of World War I and many books, documentaries, events and ceremonies are planned. Locally, it is hoped that Lincoln’s engineering heritage, which helped to break the stalemate of that war, will be honoured by the installation of a Lincoln Tank Memorial close to the site where the first Mark I tanks rolled off the William Foster & Co production line in 1916. You can read more on page 130.
We always love to celebrate Lincolnshire food here at Lincolnshire Life and Dominic Franks has not only supplied a super recipe for a beef and potato curry with chapatis – which will be a real warmer for a Bonfire Night party – but has also been to visit a Grimsby smokehouse which stars in a new Tesco TV advertising campaign. Read about the Russell Smokehouse on page 84.
Dom will also be in the demonstration kitchen along with Amy Claridge at the Food and Drink Fair at the Lincolnshire Event Centre later this month. This event always offers lots of tasty treats, as well as interesting gift ideas, and really sets the scene for Christmas.
We shall be there both days, Saturday and Sunday November 23rd and 24th so please come along and say hello.
There is a lot more to help you make the most of your November – so please enjoy.
