Lincolnshire Life September 2018 - Digital Copy
The arrival of autumn and I recently attended the opening of the North Sea Observatory at Chapel St Leonards. This iconic building is already an outstanding feature on the coastline and makes an excellent southern gateway to the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park. I know many readers are avid birdwatchers and dog walkers and will soon be appreciating the facilities the Observatory has to offer. My feature is on page 30.
We are featuring two of the most anticipated cultural events in the county this month. Heritage Open Days are a fantastic opportunity to gain free access tosome of our finest historic buildings, while the Gravity Fields Festival, at the end of the month, has an exciting five-day programme of culture and events in and around Grantham. Heritage Lincolnshire organises the Heritage Open Days and their theme this year is Picturing the Past. You can read more on page 116.
We have a theme of Wellness running through the magazine and we thank our contributors and advertisers who have added their own stories and ideas of what helps to sustain and establish healthy living. From health checks to eye tests; spa days to recipes; gardening therapy to relaxing breaks we have plenty of suggestions to help you combat the modern day strains on your body and mind. One lucky winner can win a Simply Spa Day for two courtesy of Eden Hall. Look out for the entry details on page 44 and online.
With collections for Autumn/Winter 2018 arriving in clothes shops we have a preview of some of the new ranges. We especially love the coats for this season and have picked a few favourites. Our weddings supplement running alongside has elegant ideas for the mother of the bride as well as a wealth of
venues and suppliers to explore, if you are beginning to plan your special day.
Finally, don’t forget nominations for our 2018 Taste of Excellence Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards close at the end of August. Our judges will soon be visiting the establishments with the highest number of recommendations. We have included details of our Awards Night in this issue which promises to be another wonderful celebration of the champion businesses and food heroes in Lincolnshire.
We wish you a wonderful September.
