Lincolnshire Life’s 21st Annual Food & Drink Awards
Lincolnshire Life’s annual Taste of Excellence Awards took place on Thursday 1st November at the Engine Shed, Lincoln. Over 350 guests were welcomed from across the county to celebrate wins across fourteen categories. Our circus theme this year of The Greatest Show showcased the very best the county has to offer across the food, drink and hospitality sectors. Compere for the evening was Lincs FM’s John Marshall, who kept the guests entertained as well as our fantastic circus themed entertainment on track.
After the main course our guest speaker, Paul Bagwell Chair of Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service spoke about the vital work the charity fulfills. Delivering emergency blood supplies to medical facilities over a large area of the county, their fleet of bikes and cars provide day and night cover for essential medical items such as blood, pathology and microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products and donor breast milk. The evening’s raffle raised a fantastic £1,750. We would like to thank all those businesses who provided prizes for the evening,
Our caterer this year was Sam Owen, owner of Salted Orange Food Company. His menu began with canapés including South Ormsby’s Massingberd-Mundy Lincoln Red Beef hot dogs. The starter was a Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese with salt baked beetroot and wild mushroom. For the main course guests enjoyed Lincolnshire beef with truffle potato, spinach, carrot and a thyme jus. Dessert was a celebration of Tastes of the Fair including doughnuts, candied apples, candyfloss, popcorn and chocolate brownies.
Lincolnshire Life has now celebrated 21 years of promoting Taste of Excellence. Each year we receive more nominations for more venues and businesses and the response from not only our readers but customers and visitors to these businesses is a positive reflection of the fantastic offering from businesses across the county. The competition would not be possible without the help and support of our sponsors and customers. We would like to say thank you to you all.
