Music, marquee and you on the microphone

It’s Showtime for Lincs FM. Visitors to this year’s Lincolnshire Show (20th and 21st June) will be given the chance to try their hand – and voice – at being a radio presenter.

The team at Lincs FM are building a pop-up studio in their marquee at the Showground, allowing you to give presenting a try and see whether you could be the next John Marshall.

John will be joined by fellow presenters Joseph Begley, Rob Hammond and Andy Fenton to guide you through your recording – showing you how the equipment works and offering tips on how to be the best presenter on the radio!

John told Lincolnshire Life: “We might not share all of our tips – we don’t want you to be too good, as we want to keep our jobs!”

So, does that mean no Lincs FM stage at this year’s Lincolnshire Show?

John said: “In previous years, we’ve been the ones taking to the stage to entertain the crowds, from forming our own band called Four Blokes and A Blonde, to break-dancing, putting together our own barber shop quarter and last year’s lip-synch battle between Rob and me. This year we thought we’d take a break from performing and see if you can do our job instead!”

Everyone taking part will be able to take home a recording of their effort, to play to their family and friends.

Instead of a stage, in the Discovery Zone, Stand 7, you will find the new Lincs FM marquee – which you’ll be seeing at events across Lincolnshire and Newark over the summer, not just at the Lincolnshire Show.

Inside the marquee, as well as the pop-up studio, you’ll also be entertained by performers from across the area – in a more relaxed informal setting, sitting astride bales of hay, performing for the crowds. The aim is to create a mini-festival at the Showground, something different for this year with a chance to relax on a picnic blanket and take a break from wandering around the event.

Lincs FM’s Lincolnshire Show Radio will also be back on air – broadcasting special programming from its double-decker studio by the main ring. It launches on Tuesday 19th June and will offer even more detailed travel news specifically for those attending the Show, as well as interviews and features from the Show itself. It will be available on DAB across Lincolnshire and also on FM nearer the Showground from 19th to 21st June – simply search for ‘Lincs Show Radio’.
