Blyton Dental brings life to your smile

Set up in 2015 by husband and wife dentists, Dr Arun Thomas and Dr Sharon Jacob, the dedicated team at Blyton Dental, a family-orientated independent practice near Gainsborough, pride themselves on offering excellent customer service combined with affordable, quality dental care.
Treatments range from routine dentistry, hygienist services, cosmetic dentistry, teeth straightening with Invisalign, dental implants and facial aesthetic treatments.

“Our aim is to provide a family-friendly, happy place,” explains Dr Thomas, who is passionate about his profession. “We understand that a good number of patients are anxious and often scared, possibly as a result of bad dental experiences in the past and we always try our best to provide a positive and painless experience. We are very proud that we have managed to get many patients to overcome their ‘fear of dentists’.”

The highly qualified team at this well respected practice share years of experience in caring for patients of all ages.

Dr Thomas and his wife have two daughters, six-year-old Nandita and 14-month-old Tara.

“Since being a dad, I’ve realised it’s not that easy to help or supervise your children while they brush their teeth to make sure they are doing it correctly, which is why it’s so important to encourage good oral hygiene while they are young.”

Blyton Dental boasts a range of the latest equipment, including 3D CBCT scans for predictable implant treatments, digital scanners for teeth straightening and impressions.

“We don’t use gooey impression materials,” explains Dr Thomas. “Impressions are done with a digital scanner in most cases, which makes it much more accurate and comfortable for patients.

“Our aim is to provide the highest standard of dental care. We believe that prevention of dental disease is better than cure and our patients are encouraged to see our hygienists at regular intervals.”

When it comes to cost-effective dental solutions, Dr Thomas points out that although a private practice, Blyton Dental prides itself on being able to offer many treatments at a cost comparable to NHS charges, as well as a popular membership plan.

“All it takes is just £9.99 per month for patients to maintain their oral health with us. For this, members get two hygienist visits, plus an annual check-up with X-rays, and 5% discount on all dental treatments even on implants, or a smile make-over!

“Latest advances in dental implantology allow us to restore teeth with implants and without the need of dentures, all on the same day.

“Since 2017, we have been using PRF (platelet rich fibrin) taken from the patient’s own blood to cover the implant surgery sites which aids the healing process.”

Blyton Dental’s team includes four dentists, two hygienists, six nurses, two receptionists and a practice manager.

“Our team work ‘with us’ rather than ‘for us’,” explains Dr Thomas. “We complement and enjoy each other’s success, laugh, cry and toil together. How many business owners can say they are inspired by the work ethics of their employees?”

Being part of local life remains a priority for the practice, which has more than 6,000 patients registered from as far as Retford and Grimsby. The surgery remains open during lockdown with enhanced operating protocols ensuring maximum safety for staff and patients alike.

The team is currently in the process of setting up a new branch in Scunthorpe, planned to open later this year.

“We are hoping that this will reduce our waiting list and both surgeries will be networked together, so patients can attend either place depending on the appointment availability.”
