Shooting Times – October 2010

Featured in:
October 2010

October is upon us and that means good news for field sportsmen since the first day of the month heralds the start of the pheasant and woodcock shooting season. Field sports of all sorts have their critics but usually those critics know nothing about the subject and what motivates people to take part. Few also understand that one of the chief elements of shooting is the total respect for the quarry. Have a good season.
REEPHAM SHOOTING CENTRE
Reepham Shooting Centre is a friendly and popular shooting club based at Fiskerton near Lincoln. The club meets every Saturday throughout the year at Reepham Moor Rifle Range. There are two outdoor ranges – a covered 25m with twelve firing points and an open 75m with eight firing points. The club runs competitions every month covering a wide range of disciplines and calibres. In addition, several Reepham members take part in the NSRA/Eley Postal Competition.

One of the highlights of the year is the family BBQ day in July when Reepham stages its annual benchrest competition, which is always guaranteed to bring out the competitive element but remains essentially a great social gathering. This month Reepham has a clay pigeon shoot and a 75m centre fire benchrest competition.

The club is keen to welcome new members and help is available from experienced members if you need it.

‘DOG REEF’ INSPIRED LOGO FOR LAUGHING DOG FOOD…
Laughing Dog is a new range of Natural Complete Dog Food packed full of natural goodness to keep your four-legged friend happy and healthy.

Laughing Dog is made at the family-owned Fold Hill Farm in Lincolnshire. A perfect balance of wholesome, natural ingredients, the recipe includes the farm’s own home-grown oats and barley. No wheat is added which makes it ideal for sensitive dogs, and there are no added artificial colours or flavours making it a really healthy choice for pet owners.

Oven baked at the farm, using a slower, gentler cooking process than most mass-produced brands, Laughing Dog Natural Complete is both healthy and delicious. The lower cooking temperatures ensure that the natural goodness of the ingredients is retained and all the delicious flavours stay locked inside.

And Laughing Dog looks a bit different too. The rough cut, wobbly, golden kibbles are crunchier than most other dry dog foods and take longer for the dog to eat – perfect for dogs prone to bolting their food. The rough texture also ensures nice clean teeth after mealtimes.

The products will be launched initially in 15kg and 2.5kg bags in puppy, adult and senior variants with an RRP of £41.99 and £8.69 respectively, available from independent pet retailers or to buy on-line at www.laughingdogfood.com.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Countryside Alliance has revealed that shooting contributes £1.6bn to the rural economy as well as making a major contribution to the ecology and environment of Britain. Surely this means that shooting deserves a little more respect?
