The Belton International Horse Trials is a beautiful three-day equestrian event set in the lovely grounds of National Trust parkland, and this year took place from Friday 31st March to Sunday 2nd April.

Lincolnshire rider Rosalind Canter took top honours in Saturday’s first CIC2* International class (Section F), riding No Excuse. Mr Sam Ecroyd took first place in the CIC2* International class (Section J) riding ARCO BB.

Izzy Taylor and KBIS Starburst took the main prize in the CIC3* Lycetts Grantham Cup (Section M) on the Sunday and so claimed the first leg of the Shearwater Insurance Tri-Star Grand Slam in the process. It was a close contest, with Izzy just pipping the 2014 winners Sir Mark Todd and Leonidas II to the post, whilst Piggy French was close on the heels being just one penalty point off Izzy, riding Quarrycrest Echo on the pair’s first run at this level.

Aside from the main Horse Trials there were numerous displays and demonstrations, such as Pony Club Games, Gate Jumping, classic cars, a dog show and live music – plus over ninety tradestands, thus keeping nearly everyone occupied in one form or another.
