The late summer bank holiday saw the Cranwell Bloodhounds hosting a family day and dog show at the hunt kennels. The hunt will start its 30th season this coming winter, but in all those years it was their first open day.

Planned by both the hunt staff and supports, the day proved a huge success as the car park started filling soon after the event opened and the numbers attending far exceeded any expectations of Joint Master Wendy Broughton, who commented: “It is so wonderful to see this many people out for the day, enjoying the countryside and participating in the various activities.”

Proving popular on the day was the family dog show which attracted a large crowd in many of its classes, equally well-liked was the ‘come and have a go dog agility’ while others spent time wandering around the stalls and trade stands that surrounded the dog show.

The day finished with the Cranwell Bloodhounds chasing their regular cross-country runner in the much anticipated bloodhound races, as the late afternoon crowd cheered them on.
