The Autocar award joins recognition for the new Type R from TopGear.com, The Sunday Times and Carwow.

The Honda Civic Type R was named ‘Best Fun Car’ at the annual Autocar Awards at Silverstone Circuit recently. The home of British motorsport was a fitting location for the award win of a car which has been built on a long tradition of performance cars inspired by the spirit of racing. An industry accolade for Honda’s iconic ultimate hot hatch. The Autocar Awards celebrate both the best cars and the best people in the British automotive industry.

Launched in late 2022, the new Civic Type R has been developed using the success of its predecessors.

In its sixth generation and over 25 years since it first launched, the car has been refined and engineered to deliver the most exhilarating Civic Type R experience to date.

Autocar’s deputy road test editor, Richard Lane said: “The new Civic Type R is faster than its forebear and more capable; it’s more stable when you need it and more adjustable when you want it. With a plusher cabin and better rolling refinement, its everyday remit is also much stronger, and yet it lacks nothing of the old car’s sense of intent.

“It’s ‘fun’ but it’s also more than that: it’s brilliant, inimitable and a bit of an enigma.”
