Description

Welcome to this month’s brilliant bumper issue packed with a great selection of entertaining features.

With the festive season fast approaching, don’t miss our special Downtown Christmas 2025 brochure, as well as our inspirational Christmas Gift Guide (page 65), which we’ve put together to help you start planning your celebrations.

This month also sees the county’s food, drink and hospitality businesses come together to celebrate their achievements at our annual Lincolnshire Life Taste of Excellence Awards evening, which takes place on Thursday 6th November at The Drill in Lincoln, with the theme ‘A Night at the Movies’.

Once again records have been broken for the number of nominations received in each of the 14 categories and our judges have been out and about to review which businesses will be crowned Lincolnshire’s champions this year.

We’ll be reporting from the event in next month’s issue, so if you can’t join us on the night make sure you order your copy!

To mark this month’s Remembrance Sunday, Kate Chapman caught up with artist Darius Sirmulevicius, who created the stunning display of 20,000 handmade poppies at International Bomber Command Centre earlier this year (page 98).

The installation was just over a year in the making and remained on public display at the centre until the end of August, before the poppies went on sale from September.
Darius says: “It’s sobering when you see it, as we were putting the poppies in the ground visitors were coming over and telling me how much it means to them.”

Another talented artist featured this month is luthier and violinist Libby Summers, who has unveiled her unique range of handmade instruments (page 24).

Libby explains: “The next generation of string players is showing incredible talent, but access to really responsive, excellently constructed instruments from trustworthy sources remains a challenge.

“Brazenose Violins is a brand that respects the highest standards of craftsmanship while allowing more musicians to participate.”

However you’re planning to spend this busy month, make sure you also take time to savour a few restful moments for yourself and enjoy this issue – see you next month!
