Description

Welcome to our January issue which is published in the run-up to the festivities, always a good time to set plans and fresh goals for the months ahead.

It’s also a great month to take time out and look at any changes we want to make to our mental and physical wellbeing, so if you’re looking for inspiration, take a look at our wellness supplement which starts on page 45.

Personal trainer Ian Eassom also looks at why it’s important to focus on your personal health through the challenging winter months and shares some helpful tips on how to turn resolutions into results (p.56).

Talking of new beginnings, Kate Chapman caught up with former Coronation Street star Lisa George (best known for playing feisty character Beth Tinker) who is sharing her experience and supporting both professionals and hobbyists at Acting Lincs (p.34).

After 13 years on the famous ITV soap, the Grimsby-born actress has waved goodbye to the cobbles to focus on other projects, including championing up-and-coming talent in her hometown.

Having moved to London to join the National Youth Theatre at the age of 19, an experience which she says changed her life, Lisa remains dedicated to her profession: “I just love acting, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and the only thing I’m really passionate about.”

Another talented performer who is devoted to a life on stage is Cleethorpes comedian Lee Peart, who has warmed up studio audiences for some of the biggest shows on TV, including Strictly Come Dancing, Britain’s Got Talent and The Jonathan Ross Show (p.90).

Lee, who says he takes his inspiration from everywhere, which goes into the notes on his phone, is hoping to take his own show on tour this year, with the possibility of a gig in Cleethorpes or Grimsby.

“I feel very lucky to have stayed in a career that I’ve always wanted to do, and making other people laugh.”

Finally, don’t miss our new wine columnist Ivan Dixon from Steep Hill Wines, who shares some great tips and advice on choosing quality sparkling wines, perfect for welcoming in 2026! (p.63)
See you next month!
