Market Rasen continues to attract visitors and potential residents as the historic town unveils new housing projects and development initiatives.

COMMUNITY AND EVENTS
Renowned for its traditional market heritage, community events, and access to scenic surrounding countryside, the town’s welcoming atmosphere and diverse attractions make it an appealing destination for visitors.

Just a short drive from the town lies the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds AONB, offering rolling hills, picturesque villages, and countless walking and cycling trails, perfect for wildlife watching and photography.
For golf-lovers, the Market Rasen Golf Club is one of the top 10 courses in Lincolnshire. Established in 1912, the club was awarded Championship Venue status in 2021 after hosting the English Senior Women’s Amateur Championships.
The heathland course is both challenging and picturesque with a variety of natural hazards, including the River Rase which flows through the course. Known for its friendly welcome, the club has more than 800 members and as well as the course, there is a driving range and other off-course practice facilities. The clubhouse and decking provides a pleasant social space overlooking the 18th green.
For the more adventurous, Wild Pines Park (www.wildpinespark.com) is one of the largest rope courses and outdoor adventure parks in the UK with challenging and exciting activities suited to all ages. Situated in Linwood Warren, eight acres of private woodland, you can enjoy an adventurous and fun-filled day out sharing a family or team experience on ropes courses and specially designed activities.
Participants are kitted out with safety equipment, including harness and a helmet, then briefed on how everything works and after some practice move on to the first course.
RACING AND MORE!
If enjoying outdoor excitement is your thing, don’t miss a visit to Market Rasen Racecourse, which combines the thrill of horseracing with live concerts, craft fairs and community events.
Racing in Market Rasen dates back to the early 1800s, although it found its current home in 1924, with its first race meeting held in April that year.
The course is a right-handed oval with a circumference of around one-and-a-quarter miles and hosts more than 20 National Hunt fixtures throughout the year, including The Summer Hurdle and The Summer Plate run in July, two of the most prestigious summer races staged in Britain – next year’s Unibet Summer Plate Ladies Day will take place on Saturday 18th July.
If you can’t wait that long to enjoy a great day out, then you can plan a visit to this month’s County Racedays which take place on Thursday 13th November and Wednesday 26th November.
This summer welcomed live concerts featuring Scouting for Girls and Tom Jones, while the racecourse also hosts vibrant rock concerts featuring popular tribute bands throughout the year.
Look out for Elvana (Elvis Fronted Nirvana Tribute) on Saturday 6th December at 7pm and The Sherlocks on Wednesday 17th December at 7.30pm.
Shopping for something a bit different? Then don’t miss the Ultimate Shopping Day, which takes place at Market Rasen racecourse on Friday 7th November.
This vibrant craft fair features a wide range of stalls inside the venue, where local artisans and vendors showcase unique crafts, perfect for early holiday shopping or finding special gifts.
FESTIVE FUN
The traditional Boxing Day races at Market Rasen is an annual festive highlight for many. The event starts at 10am and includes a range of family-friendly activities.
If you’ve over-indulged on the big day, it’s the perfect opportunity to wrap up, get out and cheer on the top Throughbreds in action!
This year’s Market Rasen Rotary Santa Run is scheduled to take place on Saturday 6th December. The festive event is a highlight of the holiday season, bringing the community together for fun, fitness, and charity, fostering community spirit and holiday cheer.
The 5K Santa Run/Walk is a timed 5-kilometre run or walk for participants of all ages and abilities, while the 1-Mile Untimed Walk is a more relaxed option suitable for families and those looking for a gentle stroll.
Everyone is encouraged to dress in festive Santa costumes to add to the holiday spirit.
