Almost two years since they marked their 35th anniversary, Martin Duckworth Limited are celebrating their most recent investment in the business.
Ben Duckworth, managing director, is the third generation of his family to be at the helm of a company which is not only one of the few remaining family owned Land Rover retailers in the UK but also one of the marque’s most successful.

“My grandfather, James, established James Duckworth and Son in Ingham in 1962,” said Ben. “The garage served the rural area with repairs and servicing. During the 1970s there could be up to a year’s wait for a new Land Rover so my father, Martin, took the opportunity to buy and sell ex-military vehicles, refurbishing them for the farming community.

“When a franchise for Land Rover was offered to the business, one condition was that we relocate further away from Lincoln so the Market Rasen premises were secured and we moved to what is still our main site in 1980.”

Duckworth Land Rover took over from Parkside Land Rover Boston in 2008, bringing the London Road premises up to corporate specification. It was always the ambition to identify a new site where a purpose built showroom and workshops could be commissioned (just as the Willingham Road, Market Rasen showroom had been redeveloped in 1990), to create a fitting showcase for the prestigious model range as well as state-of-the-art facilities for used car displays and after sales service. The 4878 sqm build at Kirton Distribution Park accommodates the workshops and a showroom large enough for the full range of Land Rovers and, for the first time in in over 10 years, Jaguar is back in Boston, finding a new home worthy of the marque and a team with proven expertise behind it.

Ben is supported by Gordon Joyce, head of business at Market Rasen and Andrew Shaw, head of business at Boston.

Andrew said of the new premises: “The company has always believed in consistent investment in the business, training apprentices and staff in the skills customers demand, within an environment which the clients and products deserve. We are driven by the requirements and demand of customers and this will continue to be the key to our success.”

Martin Duckworth, chairman commented: “We have made an investment of just under £8m to create a modern and spacious showroom, valet bays, a customer lounge and customer handover bays. Bringing Jaguar back to Boston after an absence of over a decade is very exciting and after eight months of construction on this brand new location, we feel all the elements are in place to make this a resounding success.”

Duckworth Jaguar Land Rover will open the new showroom on Monday 6th February with a Launch Weekend planned for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th March.
