The Cow Shed @ Cow Pasture Barn, South Elkington

A new purposely designed, self-catering cottage is available for its first occupants in glorious countryside, at South Elkington just two miles from Louth, acknowledged as one of Britain’s best market towns.
The Cow Shed @ Cow Pasture Barn has been luxuriously appointed and adjoins a large family home, also converted from the original farm buildings. The cottage sleeps two and is self-contained with its own entrance, generously equipped kitchen, stylish sitting room and sumptuous bedroom. Discreetly located along a private drive, there is plenty of parking and stunning views with the spire of Louth’s St James Church in the distance.

One of the highlights of a stay at The Cow Shed is the opportunity to dine at the twice-monthly pop-up restaurant, Supper with Rosie. Owner, Philippa Fairburn is the host and professional chef, Rosie Dicker cooks for guests. The oak beamed kitchen is the perfect space for up to twenty diners, either as one group or as smaller tables to enjoy this very relaxed gourmet dining experience.

The four-course menu offers local Lincolnshire produce which Rosie sources and serves with great skill. She has honed her talents in award-winning establishments and welcomes the chance to chat between courses with diners.

The menu is set, with one vegetarian option, diners bring their own drinks and make a suggested donation for the meal. One menu, from a recent evening, included rillettes of poached salmon with smoked eel and Cox’s apple salad to start. Spelt and walnut bread was served to accompany the dish. To follow was rack of free range pork served with textures of cabbage, puréed potato and sauce soubise. A warm custard tart with baked rhubarb was served for dessert, with Yarburgh goat’s cheese, caramelised garlic bread and fruit compote to finish. Coffee with delicate truffles ended the evening.

You can enjoy a ‘Gourmet Getaway’ package which includes a weekend two-night stay at The Cow Shed @ Cow Pasture Barn with dinner at Supper with Rosie, plus two bottles of wine and breakfast ingredients for two mornings in the fridge, on selected weekends this summer. You can book for either May 10th/11th or June 14th/15th for a total cost of £200 for the whole stay, for two people. If you would like to stay for longer the cost is £50 per night, room only.
