The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

Situated within the magnificent parkland of Burghley House, Stamford, The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials (1st–4th September) is renowned not only as a major international sporting event, but also the premier occasion in the autumn social calendar.
Featuring some of the best horse and rider combinations in the world, the Event stretches across the magnificent parkland of Burghley House in Stamford, on the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire border and boasts the ultimate retail therapy experience, with 600 handpicked pop-up tradestands.

Two days of dressage, where horse and rider combinations take to the main arena to showcase their control and elegance, kick off the sporting spectacle. This is followed by arguably the most exciting and eagerly anticipated event, the cross country, which sees competitors test their nerve around Burghley’s famously demanding course of undulating grounds and imposing solid fences, on the Saturday. The competition comes to a climax on Sunday with horses and riders returning to the Main Arena to battle it out in the show jumping contest. Here the winner of the Land Rover Perpetual Trophy and substantial first prize is determined.

Land Rover Burghley is also prized for its extensive shopping avenues, pavilions and food walks catering to every guest. The shopping village offers a wide variety of unique goods including artisan cheeses, equestrian paraphernalia, sculptures and the most comfortable of walking boots to name but a few.

2015 saw 160,000 visitors passing through the gates of the Burghley Estate across the four days of competition and this year looks to be just as competitive. Visit www.burghley-horse.co.uk to secure your tickets.
