CPRE launches centenary competition

The Campaign for Rural England (CPRE) Rutland and Lincolnshire has launched a special centenary competition to help restore and repurpose heritage telephone boxes across local rural communities.

The project, supported by a national grant, is being delivered in partnership with the Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT), the lifesaving charity responsible for more than 9,000 defibrillators and emergency phones across the UK, many housed within adopted heritage K6 telephone kiosks. The British Coating Federation is also supporting the scheme.

The competition invites parish councils and local communities to put forward telephone boxes in need of restoration and share innovative ideas for how they could be repurposed for community benefit. CPRE is planning the restoration of five boxes during 2026, with grants of up to £1,000 available for each project.

The closing date for entries is 1st August.
