Description
The autumn and winter seasons in Lincolnshire have their distinctive moods. Bright, crisp days before Christmas are perfect for an afternoon walk along the beach, or a wander across one of the county’s many outstanding nature reserves.
There are flocks of migrating birds scurrying through tidal pools and along the shoreline and starling murmurations soaring in gathering patterns before they roost in reeds or woodland.
As the months progress, the festive season is the ideal time to share hospitality with family and friends, and inside are plenty of ideas for celebration dishes as well as those just to bring some warming comfort on a wintery day.
The Lincolnshire Pork Co. is ready to help you serve traditional tastes of Christmas with home-cured, honey-glazed hams and of course that favourite seasonal side, pigs-in-blankets. Read more on page 8.
County based chef Rachel Green has created recipes which elevate classic dishes to showstoppers to wow your guests. Her luxurious festive spiced beef bourguignon is packed with herbs, spices and mushrooms in a rich Merlot based sauce. Chocolate, orange and cranberry pudding is a delightful alternative to traditional Christmas pudding, still brimming with seasonal flavours. Find Rachel’s recipes on pages 10 and 34.
At Good Taste Lincolnshire we believe the county produces some of the finest food and drink products in the entire UK. Our features in this issue showcase award-winning bakers Just Bake It; the magic of Christmas at Doddington Hall; dining experiences at yellowbellykitchen; The Old School Inn; Soul Foods; The King’s Head and Cleatham Hall.
When you are out and about, be sure to follow the North East Lincolnshire Food Map. It will guide you to the best that region has to offer in food and drink, and of course those delicious fish and chips restaurants serving the best of that seaside favourite.
Come and meet us at the Food & Gift Fair at Lincolnshire Showground on the last weekend of November. We will be there selling copies of Dom Franks’s Upside Down Cooking recipe book. It will make a welcome present for a foodie in your circle of family or friends.
