Description

How do you celebrate in lockdown? This is a question we have been pondering since Christmas knowing that this month would mark 60 years of Lincolnshire Life. This issue launches what we hope will be the start of several more opportunities to celebrate during the rest of 2021.

I am pleased to welcome two past editors writing in our special anniversary supplement – Jez Ashberry and Judy Theobald – who give their reflections on their time in the editor’s chair.

Often when I give talks, people mention that one of the attractions of Lincolnshire is that there is a timeless quality to life here. I think a look through the decades of our magazine timeline will show Lincolnshire Life has witnessed plenty of progress and change. The magazine’s ethos has always been to chronicle the ‘life’ of the county and we have combined milestones in the development of Lincolnshire Life with events which have shaped Lincolnshire and beyond. We had fun putting this together so we hope you enjoy the browse through the decades too.

Of course, in this issue, you will also find our regular features, visits to market towns and contributions from our freelance as well as in-house writers. Lincolnshire Life has always been supported by the most wonderful group of county-based contributors and photographers who help us to include stories from the wide perception of Lincolnshire – the Humber to the Wash. I must take this opportunity to say how much we appreciate their work.

A huge thank you must also go to our staff who work so hard to ensure we build and maintain relationships with our readers, advertisers, sponsors and supporters. In the course of this year we have been speaking to other local, independent businesses who are also celebrating special anniversaries this year. Our warmest congratulations to you from us all at Lincolnshire Life.

We hope you enjoy this special issue and have a wonderful month.

Austin Munks was a famous TT racer in the 1930s. Are there still some of his descendants living in the county? We have had an enquiry from someone who would like to contact them. Call 01522 689671 ... See MoreSee Less
