Description
Welcome to the latest issue of Lincolnshire Life, in which we bring you more fascinating articles covering history, education, social life and wellness, plus an introduction to some talented people in our county and ideas for great places to explore.
This month is traditionally a time when many couples begin planning next year’s nuptials and in our special wedding supplement you will find inspirational ideas for venues and suppliers (see page 61).
Kate Chapman caught up with illustrator Claire Harrison, who specialises in creating unique live artwork at weddings and celebrations, promoting her innovative services through social media and digital wedding platform Hitched (p.64).
Designed as a gift from the bride and groom, Claire takes photos of guests as they arrive before painting stylised watercolour portraits live at the event as personal keepsakes.
“It’s a big thing to be asked to be involved in someone’s wedding day, but I absolutely love every second of it.”
Lincolnshire offers a rich choice in special event venues, but if you’re looking for somewhere distinctive and different for your special day, check out Fydell House, in the heart of Boston’s cultural quarter, which reopened this summer and is ready to welcome back guests once again.
Following extensive renovation, Glynis Fox visited this historic 300-year-old house which was originally built for wealthy merchants and affectionately known as “the grandest house in town” (p.74).
With picturesque gardens providing the perfect backdrop, Fydell House’s Garden Room is licensed for weddings seven days a week providing a perfect historic backdrop for your dream wedding!
Talking of gorgeous gardens, this month many of us will be thinking ahead to our spring bulb display. To help you with your choices, we’re delighted to welcome our new gardening columnist Cameron Whitworth, from Baytree Garden Centre in Spalding, who has some expert tips on planting and varieties. Check out Cameron’s helpful advice on page 24.
Whatever your plans are for the month ahead, enjoy getting out and about in the last days of what has been an extraordinary summer!
See you next month.
