Happy birthday Elysium Gallery

As they celebrate their first year in business at The Old Methodist Chapel, Branston.
What an unforgettable year for the gallery – they opened their doors to the general public last October and since then it’s never stopped. Partner Peter Segasby designed and painted one of the Lincoln Barons, Eustace de Vesci, Number 21 on the city trail, to celebrate 800 years of the Magna Carta. He’s also produced limited edition framed commemorative prints of the baron, with 10% of the sales being donated to The Trussell Trust.

An auction of the Lincoln Barons will take place at an evening reception on Thursday 1st October at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Brayford Waterfront, when professional auctioneer Ian Walter, from J H Walter, will sell them.

Business partner, Marlene Robottom said: “We can’t believe that it’s almost a year since we opened the doors of Elysium Gallery. In doing so, the 1885 Old Methodist Chapel has been given a new life, at the heart of our Branston community. The gallery has attracted lots of interesting and diverse visitors; art lovers, antique dealers, collectors, gift buyers, the curious, and we’ve even had some who had been connected with the Chapel as part of its original congregation. It was surprising to learn how many people don’t know of the old part of Branston and are amazed by its beauty and charm.

“It’s wonderful to see the enjoyment visitors gain from finding that exceptional piece they have been searching for. One lovely couple, who were looking for something special for their home, couldn’t hide their excitement when they spotted a distinctive bronze art deco sculpture. As they said at the time, you know it when you see it, and it was well worth waiting for.”

The gallery is an oasis of beautiful, carefully chosen pieces that successfully demonstrate the harmony that can be achieved when mixing contemporary and period pieces to create unique interiors, whether these are in the home, the office or workplace. Elysium Gallery houses an eclectic selection of fine art, antique furniture, clocks, sculptures, ceramics, glass, silver and china at competitive prices. Equally, there is an array of mid-twentieth century and quirky retro-style pieces that have a nostalgic appeal to people of all ages, especially those looking to express their individualism. These range from heritage artefacts upcycled into exclusive items for the home to framed original vintage London bus signs.

ARTS, ANTIQUES AND GIFTS
The gallery strives to support both local and British artists and crafts, as well as displaying quality pieces from chosen international artists. Whilst a selection of these is available in the chapel, Elysium Gallery provides access through their website to a wide-ranging collection of art that suits all tastes. It also offers a variety of gift ideas and soft furnishings, as well as restoration, re-upholstery and sourcing services. So, if you are the kind of person that likes quality at affordable prices and are thinking of special gifts, early Christmas presents or pieces for the home, why not drop by? Elysium Gallery is open Thursday to Sunday 10am to 4 pm, or call to arrange a private viewing (01522 792511).
