Guns & roses in Lincolnshire

Thirty-six women joined Liane Burton of Femmes Fatales for a day of clay pigeon shooting on Saturday 8th October in Ulceby, Lincolnshire. Guests travelled from far and wide, including women and girls from Kent and Cumbria, to enjoy the day just for ladies.

Liane, a project planning engineer from Grimsby, attended her very first Femmes Fatales shoot in 2015 in Berkshire. Since then, she has travelled the length and breadth of the country shooting with ladies and building up a huge network of friends. Now she has become part of the team, hosting her own events and introducing even more women to the sport of clay pigeon shooting.

Ranging from eleven years of age to women in their sixties, the Femmes Fatales enjoyed a full day of clay shooting. Some were experienced shots who’d brought their own shotgun, whilst the majority had never held a gun before.

The group is a nationwide community of women who enjoy shooting and country sports, challenging the misconception that shooting is a man’s game. They host events all over the country and invite women from all walks of life along to try the sport. They are supported by some fantastic businesses who provide prizes for the guests, including Lincolnshire brands such as Hostie Hats, artist Clare Shaw and photographer Chris Power.

The top shot of the day was Aimee Hindle, with Heather Todd in second place and Lisa Smith finishing third. The team flush winners were Ella Parker, Tasha Holmes, Sarah Taylor and Lisa Smith.

The Femmes Fatales are hosting their Christmas Special in Goole on Saturday 3rd December which will include a fun, but friendly Yorkshire V Lincolnshire competition (and Santa Claus is going to be there!) – full details can be found at www.femmes-fatales.co.uk
