Description
In this month’s issue we celebrate the burgeoning signs of spring with our special Experience Lincolnshire supplement, featuring some of our favourite places where you can enjoy family time together.
If you’re looking forward to getting together with friends and relatives over the Easter break, you’ll love Rachel Green’s recipes for a Mediterranean inspired feast – a perfect antidote to chocolate overload! See page 54.
Meanwhile, Steffie Shields looks forward to Easter with a rainbow sea of spring colour as she “tiptoes through the tulips” and highlights some of the best National Garden Scheme Lincolnshire places to visit (p.24).
Both historic National Trust Gardens, Belton and Gunby, are promising “cracking” Easter egg hunts where visitors can earn a traditional chocolate reward, and uncover eggs hidden along a special trail. And don’t forget to treat yourself to a clutch of bulbs as you plan your own tulip festival for 2027.
April also sees the return of Record Store Day and we took the opportunity to catch up with the owners of some of our county’s independent record shops, and hi-fi specialists, to explore the passion for vinyl (p.74).
Meanwhile Kate Chapman spoke with classical singer Elaine Huckle, whose successful and vibrant career is testament to her talent, dedication and willpower (p.94).
“Singing has changed my life, I have this voice and I feel that I have to share and use it,” says Elaine. “There’s so much trouble all over the world, so if I can help just one person, that’s an amazing thing to be able to do.”
Talking of local talent, Kate also chatted to Dr Elizabeth Sherratt, a contemporary equine artist who blends art and science using traditional drawing and painting techniques with a modern perspective (p.44).
This spring, Elizabeth is holding a series of masterclasses at Oxcombe Pottery which are open for both beginner and more experienced artists – if you’ve always thought you’d like to try your hand at creating unique drawings and painting, but you’re not sure how or where to begin, make sure you book your place!
Whatever you have planned, we hope everyone enjoys a wonderful month.
