Description

Welcome to our January issue, which is always an exciting time as we look forward to fresh opportunities and set ourselves new goals.

It’s also the perfect month to take a look at our lifestyle and plan ahead for any changes we want to make – so if it’s something you’ve been thinking about, take a look at our wellness supplement which starts on page 43.

Personal trainer Ian Eassom shares some expert advice on how to manage motivation, so that any resolutions you’ve made become results in a way that’s both enjoyable and sustainable (p.46).

Amanda Whitehead from the Wellness Network CIC also has some great tips for helping our digestive system recover from the excesses of the festive season (p.54).

Amanda says: “Start today with one small change, and in a week you’ll likely notice a difference.”

We also turn the spotlight on local creative talent, featuring two artists with very different styles who are making their mark.

Kate Chapman met up with film and TV animator Peter Baynton, whose work has proved a favourite with audiences worldwide (p.30).

Peter, whose latest directorial role on The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland premiered on Sky in December, has clocked up an impressive portfolio which includes credits on Paddington 2 and directing with Charlie Mackesy the 2023 Oscar and BAFTA award-winning short film The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.

“The idea that you can tell a story through painting and illustration, that’s what really gets me going,” says Peter.

Kate also interviewed artist Andrew Fisher, who discovered a passion for painting and architecture upon retirement and now creates beautiful watercolours of local scenes and buildings around the Wolds (p.92).

Finally, don’t miss our new column by sommelier Anna Clarkson from Steep Hill Wines, who shares some great tips and advice on choosing quality wines at affordable prices (p.62).

See you next month!
