Description

Welcome to our June issue in which we celebrate the start of summer and the many exciting events taking place throughout the county this month with our Summer in Lincolnshire special (page 73).

Once again Lincolnshire Life will be joining in the fun on our stand at the Lincolnshire Show on 21st and 22nd June. We’re looking forward to meeting you at our marquee on 10th Avenue, where you’ll also find a selection of Lincolnshire Flag merchandise and receive a complimentary copy of the magazine, plus don’t miss your chance to win a luxurious Sienna 6-seater set worth £599 courtesy of Downtown, Grantham.

This is also a busy time for farmers, and what better way to learn more about the countryside, agriculture and rural life than to visit a working farm courtesy of LEAF Open Farm Sunday on 11th June.

Kate Chapman caught up with the owners of three county farms preparing to open their gates for this year’s event and discovered why they’re so proud of British food and farming (p.102).

Talking of farming, I was delighted to take up an invitation from Lincolnshire Young Farmers to help oversee the hunter judging competition at the pre-rally day where members compete for their branch. Find out more on page 110.

Inspirational adventure-seeker Hannah Brewis shares her story with Kate as she prepares for the journey of a lifetime, after landing her dream job skippering a 70-foot yacht in the prestigious Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, covering a total of 40,000 nautical miles (p.36).

If you’re yearning for a trip to the seaside, there’s good news for locals and visitors alike as three Lincolnshire beaches – Mablethorpe, Skegness and Sutton on Sea – have all won a prestigious Blue Flag award this year for being among the best kept in England. Find out more about our county’s coastal hotspots in our special Talk of the Town feature, which highlights “year-round” attractions for all to enjoy, on page 94.

So whether you’re planning to explore our county on a fun family day out or a staycation, enjoy a memorable summer and see you next month!
