Description

There’s lots to enjoy in this issue which celebrates the arrival of spring as gardens finally burst into life and we all look forward to longer days ahead.

Spring is traditionally a popular time for weddings too and whether you’re a proud mother of the bride, supportive bridesmaid, or taking centre stage as the bride, you’ll find lots of helpful advice in our special My Lincolnshire Wedding supplement.

Kate Chapman talks to artisan grower Fiona Paxton, owner of Pulvertoft Flowers, a specialist grower who supplies more than 40 different varieties of fabulous homegrown blooms (page 28). According to Fiona, there is an increasing demand from brides for more sustainable flowers for their big day which can only be good news for dedicated growers in our county.

Talking of floral inspiration, Steffie Shields explains how this year’s in-vogue Pantone shade, Magenta, can add a pop of garden colour (p.22). Even if you’re not a fan of strong colours, it’s worth noting that this vibrant tone helps promote optimism and joy as well as inspiring kindness.

Whether you enjoy outdoor entertaining or simply relaxing in your garden, there are plenty of great ideas in our eight-page Downtown Spring special featuring carefree comfort and style for all.

Don’t miss Caroline Bingham’s report from her exclusive visit to view the outstanding MC Tsen Uniform Collection which is on long-term loan to Doddington Hall (p.80); a true testament to one man’s passion for military history and craftsmanship.

There’s also a chance to win £300 worth of Schöffel country clothing, courtesy of Doddington Country Clothing (p.89) which is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its launch. And we are pleased to announce our exciting photographic competition, in partnership with the International Bomber Command Centre (p.42).

We are looking for photographers to capture evocative images celebrating our county’s aviation heritage, with a prize of a family annual pass to the IBCC for each of the 12 winners chosen. The best pictures will also appear in Lincolnshire Life each month, with a chance to feature on our cover!

We look forward to seeing your creations – have a wonderful month.
