Description

Welcome to our biggest issue of the year, packed with heaps of good features for you to enjoy browsing through and reading at your leisure.

This issue also celebrates some of the many talented people we have in the county, including a world famous harpist, fast rising rugby star and a successful young author, who all share a passion and dedication for their chosen careers.

Andrew Vaux caught up with England rugby star Ollie Chessum, who played a key role in England’s latest Six Nations Rugby campaign earlier this year (see page 38).

“Lincolnshire will always be my home,” reflects on his inspirational rugby journey and recovery from a freak training accident last year and is now looking ahead to a positive future, which for him means “to keep playing rugby as best as I can, for as long as I can.”

Talking of young talent, I enjoyed chatting to Lincolnshire author Megan Clawson, daughter of a Beefeater, who explained how living inside the Tower of London helped inspire her writing (p.66).

Following the worldwide success of her debut novel Falling Hard for the Royal Guard, Megan’s second book Love at First Knight, which is out this month, was written when she moved back home to rejoin her family in Boston, where she also grew up and went to school.

Megan pays tribute to her Boston background: “People have been so supportive of me as an author and I’m proud to be part of a community who do their best to celebrate local people.”

Caroline Bingham visited historic Old Bolingbroke to hear how the Friends of St Peter and St Paul are rising to the task of restoring one of Lincolnshire’s precious churches (p.118).

This much-needed fundraising includes a special summer concert on 8th June by renowned Welsh harpist Eira Lynn Jones, a true ambassador for this magical instrument.

Eira will be playing three of her harps at Old Bolingbroke with all of the proceeds going towards the restoration funds – pack a picnic and enjoy this special evening of live outdoor performances.

See you next month!
