Fashion trends are known to be fast moving but after a quarter of a century in business Jan Palmer knows that creative collections and a one to one service are what make her business stand out on the high street.
Jan opened her first Lindsey James shop on the High Street, Heckington in November 1993. There followed a move to The Barns, on the opposite side of the A17, but five years ago Lindsey James came full circle and moved back to The Oak in the centre of Heckington. The site is ideal: a spacious showroom within easy walking distance for many residents but also a large car park alongside for those coming from further afield.

The creativity of the industry is what first drew Jan to fashion. Her love of the changing trends and buying each season has not diminished.

“I am always looking for styles which I know will suit my customers,” said Jan. “I buy with quality, originality and occasion in mind. Those are qualities which you cannot determine by shopping online. Fit and styling make the final difference between a satisfactory outfit and a stunning look.”

Jan and her experienced team offer a personal shopping service to clients, helping to style complete outfits for leisure, holidays, special occasions and mother of the bride.

With fabulous collections of separates, dresses, boots and shoes, accessories, hats and jewellery Lindsey James can dress you from head to toe.

“My first priority is always to find fashion which would really suit my customers. I consider fashion is an investment for your wardrobe.”

This season there are stylish wool coats and jackets with feature buttons and faux fur trims. Bolder block colourways are strong in the collections, and flattering skirt lengths in tweeds and check wools. Perfect for beating the winter chills and winds, team with a pair of elegant boots for a look which is both practical and classically stylish.

Lindsey James is particularly strong for occasion wear and Jan always remembers her own experience, before having her own store, of being turned away from a shop with a very curt ‘I don’t think we have anything for you here’. Jan vowed that she would always cater for as wide a range of customers as possible and has always stocked sizes 10 to 30.

“We want to make every customer as welcome and as comfortable as possible and make them equally excited about their choice of occasion wear as they are about the big day itself. An outfit which makes you feel confident and special is what we are here to achieve.”

There will be a fortnight of celebrations for the 25th anniversary beginning at Lindsey James on Tuesday 6th November when clients are invited to browse the collections and enjoy refreshments and cake. With 25% off the prices of a range of stock, there hasn’t been a better time to refresh your winter wardrobe. There is plenty of room to sit and relax for friends and companions plus there will be genuine help and advice on hand from Jan and her team as you select your outfits.

From Tuesday 13th November to Saturday 24th November Lindsey James will be holding a half price occasion wear sale on selected ranges. If you have a special event, wedding or if you will be mother of the bride this is your opportunity to be pampered and find that perfect look.

“I must take this opportunity to thank my loyal customers as well as my dedicated staff,” said Jan. “I could not have done this without them. It has been a privilege to get to know so many people and develop relationships which still last today.”
