Oliver’s win takes him back to the number one slot

Winning Defender Burghley Horse Trials 2023 on Ballaghmor Class has helped Oliver Townend take the number one position in the FEI Eventing World Rider Rankings. Oliver has overtaken Ros Canter, who drops to world number two, while the US’s Boyd Martin – 9th and 10th at Burghley this year – climbs up to the number three slot.

Oliver said: “It is and always will be an honour to be at number one in your sport and it’s great to be back in that spot. The horses are incredible – they’re improving every day, have been so consistent and will always be my ultimate team mates. I also want to thank the massive amount of people behind me that make this happen.”

2024 charity of the year
Defender Burghley’s association with its 2023 supported charity, Horatio’s Garden, was a terrific success, producing some high-profile publicity and generating funds for this excellent charity.
