Farmers’ ball raises funds

Over 1,050 farmers, friends, family attended the Lincolnshire Young Farmers County Chairman’s Charity Ball at the Epic Centre on the Lincolnshire Showground. The black-tie event, which included a three-course meal, live band, disco, raffle and an auction achieved in excess of £30,000 for Kidney Research UK. The charity is close to current county chairman Matthew Denby, who requires a kidney transplant after a childhood illness left his kidney function at low levels. Many friends, farmers and local businesses donated amazing lots including a bottle of House of Commons whiskey signed by Theresa May, tickets to see Lionel Richie and hire of a private yacht in the Mediterranean. Guests danced into the night to The Vigilantes. Local Lincolnshire farmers band The Baltic Donkeys also made a guest appearance, after someone pledged £350 for them to play one song!
