Horizontal, vertical or diagonal, designers have been taking a linear look at fabrics and style. We are featuring hooped patterns which defy that old adage that they appear to shorten the height of the wearer. Teamed with floral or geometric patterns the visual illusion is reduced but still gives a streamlined silhouette.
Town or country, the check motif is bigger and bolder this season. Forget loud colourways though; this year the palette is muted and in toned contrast. Technical country clothing still dominates country pursuits but there is plenty of rural inspired fashion, including tweeds, cord and moleskin, on the high street too.
