Regimental dinner celebrations

The King’s School Grantham Combined Cadet Force recently held a regimental dinner for senior cadets leaving the CCF.

The dinner, which is also used as a training opportunity for the senior cadets due to leave the following year, also included presentations for both cadets and instructors.

The evening began with a reception in the headmaster’s garden with guests including the Lord-Lieutenant Mr Toby Dennis, Lt Col Ben Hawes MBE, CO of 2 Royal Anglian, together with his RSM, Wing Commander Mills (Retd) from CVQO, WO1 (Retd) Chris Hardman from 7 Brigade, and Darius and his wife from Regimental Statuettes.

Cadet Warrant Officer and Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet Kaviru De Zoysa was presented with a certificate and RAF Commandant’s Coin for being runner-up in the Sir John Thompson Memorial Sword Competition which was open to more than 10,000 CCF cadets in the UK. Presented by Wing Commander Sue Gordon (Retd), this was a first for King’s School CCF.

SSI Colour Sgt Shane Pulfrey was presented with his Cadet Force Medal by Lt Col Ben Hawes for his CCF service before the Lord-Lieutenant Mr Toby Dennis presented seven Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medals to the Instructors of the CCF for their services over many years.

Grantham school joins Carol Service in celebration of town’s hospitalPupils from St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy are taking part in the first Carol Service to celebrate the special relationship Grantham and District Hospital has with the town and surrounding communities.The school children will join in the singing of favourite Christmas Carols as well as perform their own set musical piece at the Carol Service on Thursday 11th December at 7pm, in St Wulfram’s church, Grantham.Deputy Head Teacher Olivia Mumford said: “The Carol Service is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to share the joy of music while showing appreciation for the incredible work done at Grantham and District Hospital. It’s a privilege to support such an important event in our town."The Carol Service has been organised by United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity, who work closely with staff at Grantham and District Hospital and provides those extras for staff and patients that NHS budgets are unable to fund.
