Shooting stars in Lincolnshire
All-girl gun club Femmes Fatales was formed in 2014 and run clay shooting events nationwide. They held their first ever Lincolnshire event on Saturday 13th August, hosted by Grimsby girl Liane Burton at White Lodge Shooting School in Ulceby. Sixteen guests, most of whom had never shot before received expert tuition from former England shooting team representatives Robert and Rose Jobson, proprietors of the gorgeous venue.
A fun competition took place once the girls had learned the basics, with prizes up for grabs kindly donated by Lincolnshire businesses Daniella Draper Jewellery, Greenio Ltd, Clare Shaw Artist and Marsh & Bumble Country Accessories.
Chiara King was the overall winner, whilst the four-woman flush was won by Amy Oliver with Madeleine Teasdale, Anna Wooster and Melissa Cliff. There was an additional prize for the ‘clay conservationist’ of the day, AKA the one that let the most clays get away: Danielle Bradford.
Also in attendance, perhaps learning some country skills for her role in the Dales, was actress Sophie Powles who plays Holly Barton in ITV soap Emmerdale. She looked at ease with the shotgun and made shooting look effortless despite having only shot once before.

Grantham school joins Carol Service in celebration of town’s hospital![]()

Pupils from St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy are taking part in the first Carol Service to celebrate the special relationship Grantham and District Hospital has with the town and surrounding communities.![]()

The school children will join in the singing of favourite Christmas Carols as well as perform their own set musical piece at the Carol Service on Thursday 11th December at 7pm, in St Wulfram’s church, Grantham.![]()

Deputy Head Teacher Olivia Mumford said: “The Carol Service is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to share the joy of music while showing appreciation for the incredible work done at Grantham and District Hospital. It’s a privilege to support such an important event in our town."![]()

The Carol Service has been organised by United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity, who work closely with staff at Grantham and District Hospital and provides those extras for staff and patients that NHS budgets are unable to fund. ![]()
