Stars of the Show

The 141st Lincolnshire Show began amid cloud and light rain but the early weather did nothing to dampen spirits. Visitors and exhibitors across the two days got to enjoy plenty of activities and displays in the glorious summer sunshine.

Guest speakers in the Rural Voices tent included two celebrities-turned-farmers: JB Gill, formerly of boy band JLS, and Kelvin Fletcher, best known for playing Andy Sugden in Emmerdale and for lighting up the Strictly dancefloor. They each shared their experiences of working life in the countryside and took questions from their fans.

As usual there were challenges involving local schools and community groups, including the hard-fought Lincolnshire Young Farmers Tug of War and the colourful decorated trailers competition. Armed Forces displays and vintage vehicles drew audiences young and old, as did the characterful cattle and sheep in the livestock areas. Foodies enjoyed expert demonstrations in the Lincolnshire Kitchen, and the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Band and Rock Choir entertained crowds with rousing music.

Lincolnshire Life and our partners Downtown were delighted to welcome readers and shoppers to our marquee, where there were a range of competitions to enter and products to view.
