A decade of the finest country clothing

Doddington Country Clothing celebrates the 10th anniversary of its launch.

Quality, style and the great outdoors work hand in hand across the Doddington Estate, so it was a natural next step in 2013 to create the store which stocks a hand-picked selection of leading UK and European country wear brands.

Trusted names
Shop manager Carol was on the team from the outset. “I can clearly remember unpacking those first boxes of stock. The anticipation of seeing the new season ranges arrive has never left me.

“The 2023 Spring collection is no exception. We’ve already seen how the new arrivals are being snapped up and with new brands coming on board this season I feel we have the best offering for enjoying a country lifestyle – whatever the weather.”

One of the first brands in store was Schöffel. The enduring quality with practical, yet elegant styling has loyal customers returning year on year to invest in new colourways and ranges.

“The classic Oakham has a great new colour in stone blue, and we are all loving the gorgeous new flamingo and pale blue two tone Exeter heritage rugby shirts with co-ordinating caps.” said Carol.

Barbour, another of the store’s popular brands, features clothing which epitomises the easy transition of fashion from countryside to the city with a vibrant splash of pink and coral highlights to this season’s collection.

Stripes appear in the Barbour and Gant collections, reflecting a nautical theme, while Seasalt offers delicate floral patterning for dresses and blouses.

Breath of fresh air
The public have certainly embraced the Doddington Estate over the past decade as a location to enjoy a day out, meet with friends and connect with nature. Customers visiting the cafe, home store, bike shop and Hall can find the perfect clothing to take them from lunch with friends to a wander around the gardens, to a longer walk in the parkland along the many trails.

Walking boots or Wellingtons by Le Chameau and Aigle will keep your feet warm and dry whatever the conditions. There are water and shower proof coats and jackets as well as sun hats, panamas and caps for when the temperatures rise.

Curated collections
To complement the leading country wear brands, Carol and her team curate a collection of accessories, perfect to complete your outfit – or as gifts for loved ones. Customers love the sunglasses from Powder or the new jewellery range from local designer Cast and Found. Gorgeous kimonos are in stock in delightful designs while the selection of handbags is ideal to co-ordinate your outfit. With something for everyone in mind, there are also hair accessories, belts, scarves and socks.

Growing by each season
The unique mix of brands and accessories which the store team has developed over the past decade has built a strong customer base. “It continues to be very rewarding to watch new clients discovering the estate through Wilder Doddington and new initiatives such as the Wildlife Safaris. Doddington Country Clothing has grown as visitor numbers have increased, keeping us open to fashion innovations, products and styles which reflect the benefits and enjoyment of a country lifestyle.”
