Gardening expert provides the final bloom for opening day

Pennells Garden centre in Lincoln proudly saw in the opening of the new Plant area, Food hall and restaurant extension on 13th May with an excellent talk by Christine Walkden. Christine’s talk was a laugh a minute as she regaled the 200 plus crowd with her life and times of a gardener.

Along with the excellent main event there were many food tasting offerings from local suppliers and demonstrations including flower arranging on offer throughout the day

Managing director, Will Pennell said: “The day went perfectly, we were blessed with brilliant weather and Christine’s talk definitely was the pinnacle of what was an excellent day for all involved. I would like to thank Christine for opening the centre and the suppliers and staff involved who all worked very hard in making the day a success.”

The garden centre has invested heavily in creating a gardening experience that can last all day whatever the weather. A fully covered plant area (which can also be opened during the better weather) spanning a massive 3,300sqm is one of the new features. When you’re feeling peckish, you can visit the extended restaurant where seating has been boosted from 260 seats to 420 plus allowing more customers to enjoy the fine home cooked style meals on offer.

Once your stomach is full you can plan a great night in by visiting the new food hall featuring the award winning Simpsons butchers, as well as trying some delicacies from local suppliers.
