Hockney inspired quilts on exhibition

Members of LINQS (Lincolnshire Quilters) met in Horncastle last month to submit quilted textiles inspired by the art of David Hockney. At the final count 48 hand and/or machine stitched quilts were brought along to form an exhibition this month at Springfields Event Centre, Spalding.

The David Hockney Challenge was the idea of Sheila Evans and Mary Jackson, who visited an artwork inspired exhibition on the continent. They came back to Lincolnshire and threw down the challenge to quilters across the county to create something similar. LINQS, which has its own website and blogspot, was formed especially to bring the project together.

You can see The David Hockney Challenge quilts at the Springfields Quilt Show, Friday 3rd June 10am to 4.30pm and Saturday 4th June 10am to 4pm.
