Blooming marvellous

There were real and woollen blooms to admire at the Langton by Spilsby Plant Fair. The public browsed stalls in the grounds of the Village Hall, while inside the village Craft Group displayed The Knitted Greenhouse for the first time. It has taken the thirteen members of the group a year to create the contents, which include flowers, tools, seed trays, watering can, vegetables and screening. Shirley Whitworth, who leads the group and came up with the idea, said: “This was such a creative project, in which all members could take part. Everyone has been so resourceful, knitting, crocheting and building the props.”

Visitors made a donation to step inside the poly-framed greenhouse, which is being used to raise funds for The Lincolnshire Chemotherapy Unit and the ‘Hope for Tomorrow’ charity. It will be on tour in the county in the coming months: Hildreds Shopping Centre, Skegness, Saturday 6th July; Spilsby Show, Sunday 14th July; Baumber Walled Garden Arts & Craft Festival, Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th September.
