With impeccable timing, six lots attracted the bidders at Lincolnshire auctions.

A George III ebonised bracket clock by the London maker John Richardson achieved top estimate, selling for a bid of £1,400; the attractive mantel clock with an arched dial and silver chapter ring engraved with Roman numerals was further enhanced with a fusee movement. Fusee clock movements are thought to be superior as they incorporate a mainspring barrel, this balances the tension as the clock winds down.

Two 19thC skeleton clocks also with fusee movements and displayed under glass domes found new owners. With a premium paid for the name, a Haynes of Stamford clock sold for £500 and another unnamed example sold for £300.

Wristwatches produced the big hitters at auction with an 18ct gold cased Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date doubling the auction estimate when it sold for £8,100, and a Panerai Luminor stainless steel cased wristwatch sold for £2,200; the bidding helped by the addition of its original paperwork and guarantee.
