Challenger E-Type Owners Club event

Members of the Challenger E Type Owners Club met for their 20th Annual Rally and AGM on Friday 13th May. They enjoyed a weekend of wining, dining and socialising, which included outings to various local attractions such as Cadwell Park’s Vintage Motorcycle Club Championships, Tattershall Castle and the nearby Bubblecar Museum.

British sports cars graced the car park of the Dower House Hotel in Woodall Spa for one of May’s warmest weekends. The Challenger is an authentic recreation of the 1961 Jaguar E Type Roadster. Approximately 250 Challengers were built in the 1980s and into the early ’90s and nearly half are still on the road today. Many Challengers use the original Jaguar running gear but unlike the E Types their fibre glass bodies are bonded to a galvanised steel chassis. This enhances the car’s handling capabilities and resistance to corrosion. Moulds for the car’s body panels were taken from an original 1961 3.8 Litre E Type Roadster with written authorisation from Jaguar.

The club’s treasurer and founding member, Nigel Boyd, said the club has nearly 100 members and they were delighted to be holding their 20th annual meeting at such a stunning and picturesque location.
