Regimental dinner celebrations

The King’s School Grantham Combined Cadet Force recently held a regimental dinner for senior cadets leaving the CCF.

The dinner, which is also used as a training opportunity for the senior cadets due to leave the following year, also included presentations for both cadets and instructors.

The evening began with a reception in the headmaster’s garden with guests including the Lord-Lieutenant Mr Toby Dennis, Lt Col Ben Hawes MBE, CO of 2 Royal Anglian, together with his RSM, Wing Commander Mills (Retd) from CVQO, WO1 (Retd) Chris Hardman from 7 Brigade, and Darius and his wife from Regimental Statuettes.

Cadet Warrant Officer and Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet Kaviru De Zoysa was presented with a certificate and RAF Commandant’s Coin for being runner-up in the Sir John Thompson Memorial Sword Competition which was open to more than 10,000 CCF cadets in the UK. Presented by Wing Commander Sue Gordon (Retd), this was a first for King’s School CCF.

SSI Colour Sgt Shane Pulfrey was presented with his Cadet Force Medal by Lt Col Ben Hawes for his CCF service before the Lord-Lieutenant Mr Toby Dennis presented seven Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medals to the Instructors of the CCF for their services over many years.
