Celebrating the life of Rod Newborough

Ann Newborough, her family and the Nettleham Woodland Trust invited guests to a picnic to celebrate the life of Rod Newborough, who passed away in March.

Rod was a founder trustee and woodland advisor for the Trust, helping to create native woodland, meadows and ponds as a community resource on former farmland near Nettleham. His last vision, which he was able to see completed, was for a Wildlife Tower at Monks Wood.

The Tower was built with donations from local organisations including Lincolnshire Life, to mark the 60th anniversary of the magazine in 2021.

Chris Williams, trustee, gave a short address before Rod’s daughter Claire spoke on behalf of the family. Both were happy to report that The Tower has already attracted roosting barn owls and this spring kestrels successfully raised two chicks.
